Instead Of Burning All That Wood...
As we were watching some kids organize their pile of a massive amount of wood in preparation for their Lag b'Omer bonfire, a very wise person (my wife) made the following suggestion:
Instead of burning all that wood (most of which looked like fine beams and planks in good condition), we should be using it to build homes (or shelters) for the homeless and needy.

Wood is not used as structural construction material in Israel.

DeleteYour wife would be correct, would that the intent have anything to do with performing a mitzvah.
ReplyDeleteBuilding a bonfire is a mitzvah? Where is it in the ShA? Also, Anon is correct, broken pieces of wood wouldn't be very useful for building anything useful.
