Obviously, they need a real halachic conversion, as they are really mostly Chinese now after a thousand years; completely assimilated with the Chinese people, thus, they are no longer Jews, until they have a real conversion. Otherwise, what a mish mash with so many others from all over trying to join the Jewish people.
