Smotritch falls for Netanyahu promises

I dont know why anyone trusts Netanyahu anymore when it comes to politics. He is the king of backing out of promises made for political gain.

A few days ago the news reported that in an effort to encourage Smotritch to work out a deal to run on a joint ticket with Ben Gvir, Netanyahu would sweeten the pot and give Smotritch one of designated spots in the Likud list.

This arrangement would be a win-win, as Smotritch would get an extra person into the Knesset on the Likud's dime, and Netanyahu would have his chances at achieving 61 bolstered, along with lessening the chances of many right wing votes being "wasted"..

It all worked out as this evening Ben Gvir and Smotritch worked out their issues and signed the deal to run together. Netanyahu gets Ben Gvir a more realistic entry into the Knesset with an increased chance at electoral victory, and Smotritch gets his extra seat in the Likud list.

Sure enough, only a few hours have passed and the news is now reporting that Netanyahu has sent Smotritch a notice that as it is he has no intention of keeping his side of the deal. He will only give Smotritch the designated spot in the Likud list if Smotritch also brings in the Habayit Hayehudi party into the joint bloc.

That could still happen. Smotritch has not submitted his party list to the electoral board yet. He could work out a deal tonight with Habayit Hayehudi.

it won't be easy. Hagit Moshe is upset at Smotritch, as she realizes he played her and took advantage of her inexperience. It also won't be easy because Moshe does not want to run on a joint list with Ben Gvir.

On the other hand, Moshe is just about out of options and the only other option right now is seemingly running alone and likely not getting the party into Knesset. So, she ight overcome her issues and sign a deal out of desperation.

What happens remains to be seen, and we shall see within 24 hours. That is not my point or concern.

The more interesting part of this story is that I amazed that anyone trusts Netanyahu when he makes a political promise. Has nobody learned from looking at every single election and seeing how he burns politician after politician with broken promises?
