MK Meir Porush (UTJ) has proposed a law for a solution. Porush proposed that the government subsidize the purchase of a dishwasher for families with 4 or more children. 

Porush's proposal has no chance of passing into law and was submitted as a form of protest against the new tax. Porush explains in the proposal that in families with lots of children and grandchildren, a Shabbos meal can have tens of people around the tables. Purchasing a dishwasher would cost a few thousand shekels, which can be a very significant expense on large families with a low socio-economic level.

it is a cute protest, especially in light of Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman having scoffed at the rush on disposables before the tax went into effect saying they should just get dishwashers.

With the fact that supposedly the final version of the law is supposed to include a subsidy on dishwashers for disabled people and the elderly, it would not be egregious to include "large families" in such a subsidy (if it actually gets added to the final version of the budget). the question is why a dishwasher should be subsidized for anybody. Should large families get subsidized washing machines? ovens? refrigerators? Why subsidize anybody's dishwasher? 

Additionally, how would they manage such a subsidy? How many dishwashers can my 95 year old grandfather buy? one? what happens when it breaks and he needs a new one - will he get it subsidized again? if it is not limited, zeidy can buy a subsidized dishwasher for all his children and grandchildren.

And,, by the way, the tax authorities announced this evening that the tax exemption for online purchases under $75, such as from Amazon, will not apply on disposables. I don't know if this will be true of disposables that in Israel would not be taxed or if it only on the same types of disposables but others could be purchased tax free online
