no humanity
There is an investigative committee working to uncover what happened at the Gilboa Prison that allowed six Arab prisoners to escape recently.
During his recent testimony, which was publicized today, Prison Warden Freddy Ben Sheetrit mentioned that a few years back, before he was serving in this prison, female guards had been pimped out to Arab prisoners to satisfy their sexual urges. And the reporter who first reported this story claims that Gilad Erdan, now Ambassador to the United Nations but then served as Minister of Internal Security, knew about the incidents and helped the Prison Services whitewash it and cover it up to keep it quiet.

Institutionalized rape. That's what it is.
That this could happen is horrific and shocking.
I dont even understand and cannot fathom how this could happen - how could guards and officials in the prison force female guards to have sexual relations with Arab prisoners? Do these people have no humanity within them? How could they possibly have done this? What the heck?

One of the sicker stories. We need help if this is how we treat our own. Another person I shared this post with said something that made me sick, saying even with all the "perks" the Arab prisoners were being given, they still wanted to leave. What, are we supposed to make the jails into 5 star hotels too? Unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteThere is no humanity today! You're right on. What kind of women guards would agree to such a thing, unless they're were as bad as the prisoners, or more feasible is that they were probably threatened with losing their jobs or worse. All this is happening in our holy beautiful Land; Woe, Woe!
ReplyDeleteRead the articles, the way it is reported it is horrific, but not as horrific as you describe.
ReplyDeleteFemale guards weren't being "force[ed] .. to have sexual relations with Arab prisoners"
Rather they were being put in close quarters with some of the influential prisoners, knowing that they would be groped or ogled at.
According to the reports, there was at least one influential poisoner who had an arrangement that if he kept other prisoners in line, a specific female guard would be posted to their section of the prison at least once an hour and would be close enough to him for him to inappropriately touch her.
The female guard repeatedly reported the inappropriate touching from prisoners and asked to be transferred to a different part of the prison and have the prisoner punished, but instead she was placed there more regularly as the senior administrators saw this as an easy way to keep the prison population under control.
Story is absolutely horrific, but as far as I can tell, there was no actual prostitution of sexual acts.
trading quiet for access to female guards isnt a form of payment via barter?
DeleteRafi - it absolutely is "a form of payment via barter", it is absolutely horrific and I hope that if true, the people responsible will be severely punished.
DeleteHowever I don't think that they "force[d] female guards to have sexual relations with Arab prisoners", unless you have a wide definition of "sexual relations" (just ask Bill Clinton)
