the third option is war
former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett tweeted out (and posted on other social media) today a simple and short tweet that just said:
Compromise or Destruction
A very succinct message saying this friction, this dispute, with only be resolved either by finding a way to compromise or it will lead to destruction. The rift, the divide, has grown too great.
Both sides would have to compromise and come to an agreed upon resolution, cut down on the extremism, and get back to learning to live with each other. or destruction.
I actually think there is a third option. A third option that has always worked.
War.
Whenever a war breaks out we get back together again and put all our disputes aside.
War might be an attack on Iran (or an attack by Iran), or it might be something more general. That limited operation in Jenin last week wasnt big enough for this. It would have to be something much more significant. But I think a war could do the job as well.

My father OBM used to say that if the PLO wanted to destroy Israel, all they had to do was make genuine peace with it. Without the external threat, the Israelis would soon destroy each other.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with war is that not supporting the government in a time of conflict was broken long ago during Bibi's first term when things were heating up with Lebanon and Peres, then the leader of the opposition, announced that if the government attacked Lebanon, he and his followers would not support this.
And now you have reservists who basically say they'd rather the country be in peril than serve a government they didn't vote for.
No, war isn't an option anymore.
Someone has to walk over to the leftist and rightist/religious extremists and tell them "Sit down, shut up. The adults will be speaking now."
I disagree. Every interview I have heard with a pilot commander or whatnot threatening to refuse has always said if there is a war of course they would come. The problem, as I heard one describe it, is if this takes too long, eventually they wont be fit for flying planes and will be useless. they now report once a week and have to keep a certain fitness level and all that. And if they refuse for a while, not in time of war, they wont be fit when the war comes and are needed. But if a war happened now they would not refuse.
DeleteYes, let's ask Iran to start something up right now before they're out of practice, shall we?
