send them home
From what I understand, the majority of Muslim refugees and migrants in the various European countries (among others) originate from Syria. They were understandably escaping a brutal Syrian civil war. Why they went to Western countries for refugee status rather than fellow Muslim countries is another question, but be that as it may, Sweden, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and others are hosting many Syrian and other refugees and their own societies are changing because of it.
Now Syria is being recognized by Western countries as stabilizing and with the ousting of the Assad regime it seems the civil war is basically over. Western leaders are recognizing Al-Sharaa as a legitimate leader they can work with and release sanctions.
So, why are the European countries (and others) not sending their refugee communities back to their homes?

Refugees rarely go home. How many Kosovars went home after the war with Serbia ended? Do you really think any Ukrainian refugees in North America are sitting on their suitcases patiently waiting?
ReplyDeleteAnd why would the Arabs go home when they have a whole first world continent to take over?
In the real world, refugees settle in their new home. If/when they obtain citizenship, they lose their refugee status. Once they are no longer refugees, even if circumstances change in their country of origin, there is no 'right of return' or obligation to return to their country of origin.
ReplyDeletePalestinians have their own set of rules. They are refugees no mater where they live in the world, no matter what citizenship they obtain. They are the only ones allowed to pass on refugee status to future generations.
It's not as simple as just Syrians. In the UK there are millions of Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Somalia, aside from any from Syria. France has millions from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. Each country is somewhat different.
