Quote of the Day

the day will come when we'll turn the country upside down, but that's at a later stage. The entire land like a bonfire. Do you think they'll make slaves and servants out of us? The moment will come when everyone will go out to protests across the entire country. We'll take the prisons and turn them into yeshivas

-- MK Ytzchak Goldknopf, in advance of the Haredi car protest

Quote of the Day

We have to put out a clear statement and tell everyone - we have to dismantle this concept called the "Gush Emuni" (the faith bloc). I, as a Likudnik, do not want my vote going to Shas and I do not want to bring Goldknopf into the Knesset and government. Ergo, I am calling upon the Prime Minister to dismantle this bloc now, not to succumb to their threats. We need to be the ones who dismantle it.

  -- MK Dan ilouz (Likud)

not sure how he expects the Likud to be able to form a coalition if he thinks the Likud should work against some of its national partners. Whatever you might think about those partners, the Likud needs them at this point... Netanyahu created this fiction of blocs back when we were in a series of re-elections and it has worked well for him, and he should be the one to dismantle it rather than be dragged around by others, but right now he cannot as he has no other options... maybe that is something he should deal with, but util he does, his bloc is his only option...

Quote of the Day

This is the most important war since 1939, since Nazi Germany.
If Iran is allowed to develop nuclear bomb, he (the ayatollah) will do what Hitler did and there will be millions and millions of deaths.
Had President Trump been in charge in 1935, 1936, I think the Holocaust would have been prevented. I think he would have gone in after Nazi Germany, he would have destroyed it the way he is destroying Nazi Iran And the holocaust would have been prevented.
We’re preventing another Holocaust, a nuclear Holocaust that Iran would clearly inflict, not only on Israel, but on Europe and ultimately on the USA

I warned the Lebanese President that if the Lebanese government cannot control the area and prevent Hezbollah from threatening northern communities and firing towards Israel, then we will take the territory and do it ourselves

  -- Defense Minister Yisrael Katz

whoa, that's a serious statement... I hope he weighed his words.. we will probably see the Cenks and Tuckers scream now about Israel occupying Lebanon...

Quote of the Day

The entire issue of the Rabbanut belongs to the men, and it is not a disgrace against women - it is honorable for women, each person with his flag...better that the Rabbanut should be dismantled than changing tradition and allowing women to be tested by the Rabbanut. Even if it will cause there to be np more rabbis, no more beis din, no more Rabbanut at all in Israel - so we will created a private Rabbinate, every comunity will appoint its own rabbi, as was done in the Diaspora throughout the generations...

-- Former Chief Rabbi Rav Shlomo Amar, regarding the idea of opening the Rabbanut tests to women

There are many people out there who think this would be a great idea and improvement....

Quote of the Day

The handful of rioters who desecrate the name of God must be condemned with all force. The Torah of Israel is the path of pleasantness and all its paths are peace. Their behavior has no place among us, they must be denounced and expelled from the camp.

-- Rav Yitzchak Yosef, former Chief Rabbi of Israel

of all the condemnations of the riots happening right now in Bnei Braq in which soldiers were attacked and property destroyed, I chose the one above from Rav Yosef because a few months ago Rav Yosef said in his shiur a statement directed to yeshiva bochurim that they should not be afraid of Military Police coming to arrest them but instead should rise up against them.. (as far as I know the soldiers who were in Bnei Braq were not military police, but I might be wrong...)

Quote of the Day

If we will be in power we will not transfer money to settlements - the time has come to organize a new set of priorities in the State of Israel... The time has come to bring the money back to the working citizens, to the working communities and neighborhoods.. Smotritch Economics needs to come to an end..

-- Yair Golan, Chairman of the Democrats Party

you can disagree on priroties of spending, you can be against funding settlements...but are "settlers" not working people? for the most part they are. The vast majority of them work and serve in the army

I told Bibi – stop taking credit for the Iron Dome, that’s our technology.

  -- USA President Donald Trump

I know the US provided some funding and some other involvement but I thought the technology development was Israeli.. is Trump taking credit inappropriately or is he correct in some way?

Quote of the Day

The secular Israeli who avoids the draft should get much greater sanctions because the State invested in them much more money over th eyears. If a secular Israeli evades the draft he should pay morefor the "candies" he received his entire life. The sorry Haredi evader didn't get anything...
The canceling of the daycare subsidies - is it compatible with the United Nations convention, upon which Israel is a signator, against starving small children?

  -- MK Meir Porush (UTJ)

Porush can always be counted on for putting on a good show in Knesset....

Quote of the Day

Israel is in a sort of isolation.. We will increasingly need to adapt to an economy with autarkic characteristics [without foreign trade]. The word I most hate. I am a supporter of the free market, but we may find ourselves in a situation where our arms industries are blocked. We will need to develop arms industries here — not only research and development, but also the ability to produce what we need. We will need to be Athens and super Sparta. We have no choice. At least in the coming years, we will have to deal with these isolation attempts. What worked until now will not work from now on

-- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

wow

first, I admit I had to look up the word autarkic.

Is such a thing possible in today's world? PM Netanyahu is supposedly the financial world so let's hope he has a way this can be done. Manufacturing arms in Israel never seemed like a bad idea but going to full isolation in a global economy does not sound as much of a good idea. Is it the realistic situation and not just a direction he is taking us? Seemingly but it is also happening and being foisted on us due to the never-ending war he is leading with no diplomacy out there trying to mitigate the damage of such a long war, of attacks on civilians, churches and aid workers, let alone civilians, and all the other criticisms we have failed to deal with, focusing only on getting along with President Trump and letting the rest of the world (including much of the USA) fall by the wayside.

Good luck to us all

Quote of the Day

The government is speeding towards erasing Gaza, thank God we are erasing this evil. All of Gaza will be Jewish.

-- Minister of Heritage Amichai Eliyahu

good? bad? if you agree with the sentiment expressed you can't really be upset that the world (including the ilk of Piers Morgan) gets upset that it looks like Israel is trying to wipe out Gaza and kill tens of thousands of children... the ministers of the government repeatedly say that this is their intention and objective...

Quote of the Day

The Sinwar brothers have destroyed Gaza. AzaDin Al Hadad turned it into a sea of destruction. The Hamas leaders live a life of luxury abroad, celebrating in palaces and hotels, while refusing to release the hostages. If they do not [release the hostages] the gates of hell will be opened..

  -- Defense Minister Yisrael Katz

we have heard this threat of the gates of hell opening many times. Has this become a version of the Haredi parties threat to topple the government if a draft law is not passed by date x?

And considering what Gaza looks like, I wonder what it will look like once the gates of hell open on it!

Quote of the Day

There is a building that is completely destroyed. A 70 year old man asked me to rescue his tefillin from the rubble. My assistant went in to the area against the directives and rescued the dusty tefillin. 3 buildings are definitely going to be demolished, we have over 2000 evacuees. I am telling the residents: Say Baruch Hashem and go "bentch gomel".

Quote of the Day

You can't cancel the Haredi community because right now there is a problem with too much reserve duty or financial difficulty. I did not force the Religious Zionists to become Haredim, they should not force me to become not Haredi....Clearly it is uncomfortable in relation to people who have gone out to reserve duty for hundreds of days time after time. We get hit over the head about this but we really do not have any way to help with this issue..

  -- MK Yitzchak Pindrus (UTJ)

I dont know what he should have said, but saying this isnt going to garner any sympathy for the Haredi position ....

Quote of the Day

Our enemies are over the border, on the other side of the fence, not in our house. The division of identities between sectors and camps, Right or Left, need to disappear from our lexicon. This has been the result of the last decade of politics and it has not worked! This has only brought us to the abyss socially, economically, and in security. The time has come for unity with all the Zionist parties..

-- Minister Yoav Ben Tzur when asked at the Hurvitz Conference about politicians calling each other traitor..

I agree. I think the goal should be for a national unity government after the next elections, whenever they will be and no matter who heads the largest party. Nobody likes a good troll more than me but the politics in government has gotten so divisive in recent years that this is the most dangerous threat to Israeli society, I think, and is more important to repair than probably most other issues. The only way is by working together in good faith.

As an aside, I wonder if Ben Tzur, who is form the Shas party, is indicating anything in this statement about upcoming elections. With the Haredi deadline to Netanyahu fast approaching regarding the Haredi draft law, is Ben Tzur talking about working together with right and left because he knows we are about to go to elections?

And Are Shas and UTJ considered Zionist parties? Maybe. They do both (Shas officially and UTJ unofficially (and they even deny the unofficially aspect of it) ) participate in WZO which requires a declaration of being Zionist...

Quote of the Day

If they arrest yeshiva students - we will all leave and go to chutz laaretz. There is no right of existence in this land if we don't have the Torah.

-- Former Chief Rabbi of Israel Rav Yitzchak Yosef, regarding the recent news that the IDF will start enforcing the existing laws and search for people who have not reported for duty

I dont think this is as big a threat as he thinks it is...
