This is a disgrace. If Charedi members of Knesset don't want to give allegiance then they shouldn't serve. They have no problem taking money from the "Zionist"state and being paid well as a MK so they can offer allegiance.IMHO
United Torah Judaism Against Loyalty-Oath Bill

(IsraelNN.com) The United Torah Judaism faction in the Knesset plans to struggle against a bill by Yisrael Beiteinu MK David Rotem which says that Knesset members must swear loyalty to Israel as a "Jewish, democratic and Zionist" country.
Faction chairman Menachem Eliezer Moses explained, "I don't understand how Zionism entered in the middle. I pray three times a day to Zion but this appears to me like a law of the thought police. And if someone makes a declaration, is he that way in his heart too? This is a law that is intended to banish the Arabs and the hareidim from the right to serve as members of the Knesset."
I disagree. I dont think it is right to tell them who to be loyal to beyond the State. Be loyal to the State, but beyond that? I see no reason to add the word "Zionism" to the text. Think whatever you want about the State, but be loyal to it.

I can't imagine that they would take such an oath for the state alone either.
ReplyDeleteIf they wish to live in EY and don't want the Zionist influence they can move to southern Lebanon (biblical EY) or Jordan.
They don't have to live in these parts of Ïsrael".
