Picture of the Day

I snapped this shot this morning while waiting for the bus to Tel Aviv. You can see through the front windshield of the bus that the bus driver is davening shacharis in tallit and tefillin before beginning his route... The truth is, sights like this are not that unusual, but I still think they are special...

  1. Colours are nice. Photoshop out the light post and building in the back, crop is a bit and you have a nice photograph.

  2. Does as good a driver as a devout religious jew? I ask this because Superbus has a lousy reputation when it comes to safe driving.

  3. Also-- here's an interesting question: Assuming he gets paid by the hour, is he deducting his prayer time from his declared work time?

    1. I dont know his work conditions. even assuming he gets paid by the hour, he can only start his route at a certain time. perhaps they allow him to daven in betwene routes. As well, many workplaces allow, as per the law, employees prayer time - though sometimes it might be deducted from work hours.

    2. It's not that interesting. Bus drivers have specific routes. Before and after, they are not required to be on duty cruising around town, and they might be getting paid to just sit around. By law and schedule constraints, all bus drivers have to deal with a 'split' day when they might have some early and late hours, with annoying time to kill in between. It's not very hard to learn zchut on this guy.
