Proposed Law: no more automatic extension of services
I like this one. It seems to me to provide an actual benefit to the public.
Often we sign up for services we think we will use, but end up not using and forgetting about it. Or we sign up for one thing and don't notice or remember about something else that was bundled with it. We end up paying for these things, whether we use it or not, for a long time until we notice and bother to cancel.
MKs Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev (UTJ) are proposing a law that will resolve this. The companies wont be able to take advantage of us too much anymore.
the law they are proposing would limit the amount of time for which a company can sell a service. They would be able to sell it for a year, and then would have to get your explicit permission to renew the service. If the customer does not respond positively within two months, the service will automatically be terminated.
As well, if the service is lying unused for a period of half a year, the service provider will have to get the customer's permission to continue it or else it will be cancelled.
