A Jewish woman living in Georgia (the country, not the state), has decided to make aliyah but has met with resistance and refusal. The complication in her case is that this woman has lived her entire life as a Christian after having been baptized (or somehow converted) as a child as is not willing to go through the process of returning to Judaism that converts out have to undergo.

It seems the law is that all Jews have the Right of Return, unless they converted out to another religion. So, if her status is determined to be not Jewish due to converting out, she cannot make aliyah under the Law of Return. if the beis din would determine that she is Jewish anyway, she would be allowed to make aliyah.

After the initial beis din decision was to refuse her request, she appealed to the Beis Din Hagadol in Jerusalem.

After much deliberation, and in a long and detailed psak, the Besi Din Hagadol decided that:
1. The woman is Jewish and not of another religion
2. She has the status of a baby raised among gentiles and does not need "acceptance of mitzvos" and immersion in a mikva
3. She should commit to no longer going to church and she and her children should be connected to Jews from now on and not Christians.
4. After she commits to the above, the Ministry of Interior should register her as a Jew and allow her to make aliyah
