The Likud, and PM Netanyahu at its head, are funny, and a bit of a conundrum.

Netanyahu decided, as is his right to, to request immunity from the Knesset for the crimes he is accused of. The thing is, he did not really want the Knesset to discuss it and debate whether or not to grant him the immunity. He just wanted to buy more time. After some verbal sparring between the Speaker of the House and leaders of Opposition parties, largely Kachol Lavan, and after some legal opinions became known, Edelstein and the Likud realized they could not prevent the formation of the committee meant to discuss the immunity plea.

So, the Knesset organizing committee is now meeting to arrange the immunity committee.

You might say, that's just your theory (not really mine - it has been discussed by all the talking heads), it is not true. Netanyahu really wants the immunity, he is not just delaying for time, etc.

Well, now that the process is actually starting, the Likud is flipping out. Likud reps in the committee are threatening to abandon ship if it goes forward. Miki Zohar is screaming that the results are already known, and he is going to make sure that none of the party heads (of coalition parties) will participate. Also threatened was the Likud and maybe the entire Bloc-55, abandoning the knesset entirely until the elections. They said, we will leave the entire Knesset to you for the next three months, do whatever you want. He also threatened to withdraw the immunity request.

Wait, Netanyahu wants immunity but now is upset that the Knesset committee to grant it might actually be formed?

This entire thing is crazy. This is just another stalling tactic. I am almost convinced the political stalemate is also at Netanyahu's wish, another delaying tactic to give him more time in the seat, just like this immunity thing. As long as nothing moves forward, Netanyahu remains prime minister, even if nothing else is functioning. Netanyahu is the only person benefiting from all this.

Netanyahu is basically using creative tactics to burn the clock like the New England Patriots under Bill Belichick and the Tennessee Titans under Mike Vrabel. Can Netanyahu pull out victory as they did?
