Quote of the Day
We are now in a state of emergency. Unfortunately the story of Corona has hit us when the State's coffers are empty. It is expected of the prime minister to work towards reconciliation, for bringing people back together, to try to mend the tears after 3 sets of elections - but instead the prime minister is keeping busy with attempts to delegitimize every person who does not agree with him. He is running a machine of incitement and lies against anyone who does not accept his opinion.
Our position has not changed - we want a Zionist and liberal coalition. But we feel no obligation to supply information and relaxation pills to Netanyahu.
All the accusations and mud and attempts at delegitimization say one thing - Netanyahu does not want an emergency government or unity. He wants the law to circumvent the Supreme Court and the French law to protect him from court. The rest is all a smokescreen.
-- MK Avigdor Lieberman (Yisrael Beyteynu)
now really is the time for a unity government, especially because of the Corona crisis.
The unity government should mainly be Likud and Kachol Lavan, and each should, temporarily, drop their demands and requirements - KL should drop their requirement that Netanyahu bow out and Likud/Netanyahu should drop their requirement of bringing the entire right wing bloc along and being first in a rotation (not that they should not be first, but it should not be a prerequisite to talking).
Any other parties that want to join, including Yisrael Beyteynu, Shas, UTJ, Yamina, Labor-Meretz-Gesher, should all be able to, if they want and accept the role of the unity government, but only as minor partners.

You need to stop being reasonable if you want to be taken seriously. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'll try to avoid it, like usual :-)
DeleteAnother perceptive and accurate analysis by Lieberman.
