Miri Regev's glass ceiling

With MK Naftali Bennett talking a lot recently about running for Prime Minister against PM Benjamin Netanyahu, and even more so in recent days because of the coalition crisis, Minister Miri Regev said something I find upsetting.

Miri Regev is no stranger to outlandish statements. Regev is colorful and loud and often says things that are extreme or shocking. That is who she is. She almost always is quick to defend the Jewish religion and religious communities from verbal attacks on them, and Jewish tradition is close to her heart.

And I understand she sees Bennett as a political rival (for the Likud). And, with her boss, Netanyahu, having a long-standing beef with Bennett, she and other Likudniks take every and any opportunity to attack Bennett.

All that being said, with all that background in the defense of Miri Regev, what Regev said yesterday was still disturbing.

Regev said:
You are religious man with a kippah on your head, be a little more modest. Understand the reality a little more
Modesty is a good thing. We, or most people, can all use more of it. That is to be sure. And especially among politicians, there is no shortage of people who can use some more modesty. Including Naftali Bennett, including Miri Regev, including Benjamin Netanyahu, and including 140 or so other MKs and ministers.

Is Miri Regev saying that religious people, men with kippa on their heads, can't run for the position of Prime Minister because they should be more modest? The position of PM isn't appropriate for religious people because they need more modesty? PM Netanyahu does not need any modesty because he is not religious and does not wear a kippa but Bennett does?

According to Regev it seems there needs to be a glass ceiling for religious people in politics.
