Israel is leading the way, globally, having already vaccinated 12.9% of the population (according to the numbers I saw earlier today) with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

At the same time, the numbers of infections are going up very quickly, already having reached over 6000 (again, as per the stats I saw this morning) new infections daily.

Israel has already gone into its third full lockdown (not including the partial lockdowns along the way that were limited to specific cities) and is now talking about tightening the lockdown to get better control over the spread of infection.

On the one hand we are leading the way in getting the public vaccinated. On the other hand we are leading the way in getting the public locked down and in the speed of the infection spreading.

I know the two don't contradict each other, but it is weird that both are happening at the same time
