cancel the phone lines!
There is a lot of fake news out there about the war situation and also tactical fake announcements made specifically by Hamas people and spread through Israel in an effort at psychological warfare.
While some of the information put out by Hamas isnt necessarily true or in actual context, the news is reporting that Hamas is using phones that belong to the hostages they took. Besides for using it to take out money from banks or to perform transactions, they are also using the phones to call family members in the contacts lists on those phones and emotionally torture them, sending announcements of horrors being committed on their relatives, sending videos, and the like.
the Israeli government today claimed to know exactly who has been taken hostage. They are informing families of relevant information and will then make it public. Whether they know 100% or 90% or 60% it does not matter. Israel should immediately block and disconnect those lines, working with the cellphone mobile carriers, and prevent this from happening. Phones that can be remotely disabled should be.
And the sooner the better.
Naftali Bennett announced on social media that Hamas people are using credit cards of their captives. He says he has been working with the authorities to get those cards canceled and to get transactions stopped. If the dysfunctional government can't do it, Mr Bennett should also take on the issue of the cellphones.

There might be reasons to keep the lines live, can help identify the location of the user.
ReplyDeleteThere have been published reports that the army directly asked families not to cancel the lines to aid the recovery efforts.
