Rosh Chodesh Elul | Powerful Mi Sheberach with Simcha Leiner (Must Watch!) (video)

interesting twist in the middle

What an incredible way to begin the holy month of Elul— a time when we know that “Hashem (G-d) is in the field,” ready to listen and answer all our prayers. 🌅 On the beach in Long Branch, we gathered together for a moving Rosh Chodesh Hallel and the highlight was singing a heartfelt Mi Sheberach with my dear friend, the incredible Simcha Leiner. The energy, the tefillah (prayer), and the unity were truly unforgettable. A special thank you to Moshe Butler and to everyone who helped bring this beautiful morning together, uplifting us and preparing our hearts for the upcoming High Holidays.

Zum Gali Gali | Shlepping Nachas | TYH Nation (video)

Shlepping Nachas teams up once again with Thank You Hashem for a brand-new single, Zum Gali Gali — an anthem about bringing Shabbos energy, the light of Olam Haba, into every day of the week. The song reminds us that farbrenging, simcha, and connection aren’t reserved for Shabbos or special occasions. They are daily essentials that cause each moment to be filled with simcha and closeness to Hashem. The epic music video and song reminds us to find moments each day to celebrate the fact that we are Yidden and that we have an amazing opportunity to have a connection to Hashem.

That's a great way for this to play out but Mosab Yousef has denied any interest in converting to Judaism.. but I guess he could still be Prime Minister as an Arab citizen if he would get citizenship...

shuls in Tel Aviv under attack

UPDATE:
Minister Yariv Levin, acting Minister of Religious Affairs, confirmed this is not accurate. After looking into it it seems this was an initial draft with the clause being included in contracts for all government property but was removed from the contracts with shuls already a few months ago...

-----------------------------------

Something weird and dangerous is going on in Tel Aviv, and I think it is going to backfire on them..

The City of Tel Aviv is renewing land leases for different organizations operating shuls on city property. These are shuls that never completed their registrations with the Land Registry. The new contracts that would allow the shuls to continue to operate include a clause never before included.

The clause stipulates that the synagogues must provide religious services to all neighborhood residents, regardless of age, gender, or belief.

The various shuls leadership/boards are concerned this would in essence prevent them from functioning as an Orthodox shul and would open them up to lawsuits of discrimination for having a mechitza and for nor offering Muslim prayers, and the like.

Some shuls have already refused to sign this new contract and have been given eviction orders.
source: Hamechadesh

Whatever they are trying to do, I suspect it is going to backfire and there will be a backlash against the city's efforts. If groups want to open Reform or Conservative shuls and have mixed seating or multi-denominational services, they should open those as they see fit, but I dont think forcing this on Orthodox shuls is going to work.

In past years when they did not want to allow public prayer on the High Holidays in public areas due to gender discrimination, they justified it by saying there are plenty of shuls all around Tel Aviv offering traditional services. And now they are running a campaign to stop the shuls from offering those traditional services?

Hilarious!

Translation:
The Peleg Hayerushalmi people have declared a protest "Day of Rage" opposite the entrance to Prison 10 at 5pm. But the time has come and gone and the protestors have not yet arrived.
A Peleg leader told me "The protestors are stuck in traffic on the way [to the prison]. The traffic here in this country is not normal, what is this all about!?"
Completely true.

Hilarious.

They are going to protest and shut down roads that will cause horrible traffic and frustrate many and they are frustrated sitting in traffic on the way and complaining about the traffic.

Picture of the Day

Iranian reports say the electronic countdown clock for Israel’s destruction has stopped functioning after a power outage.

Israel had bombed and destroyed this "countdown clock" during the recent "12 Day War". It looks like it was important enough to Iran to rebuild it pretty quickly but now it malfunctioned after a power outage... hmmm... I would suggest maybe it shorted out on a rainy day but we Zionists have already stolen all their rain clouds... The Countdown clock to Israel's destruction seems to be predicting Israel won't be destroyed.

standing firm

I am actually happy it looks like PM Netanyahu is rejecting Hamas's acceptance of the deal on the table right now, for now. We'll see what ends up happening but, at least for now, it looks like Israel is rejecting it, despite this being the same deal (from what I have read)  Israel previously accepted and Hamas rejected, and now is accepting it on slightly better for Israel terms.

Why am I happy?

I am happy because it is about time - after nearly two years of accepting deals on the terms set by Hamas, accepting many of the demands put forth by Hamas, finally Israel is being proactive and trying to set the tone and terms of the deal.

Will the Israeli team stick to it and keep the demands for a full deal (end the war, return all the hostages) and will Israel capitulate and agree to a smaller partial deal? This remains to be seen, but for now I am happy Israel did not accept the first Hamas response and is standing firm on its demand.

I am not even talking about the specific terms of the deal on the table and of the Hamas offer. I am just saying I am happy Israel now isnt just accepting whatever crumbs Hamas offers and is instead finally being proactive about the terms of a deal.

it could have been Crocodile Donald

News reports over the past couple of days have pointed to a situation of an abandoned crocodile farm i the Jordan Valley in Israel containing 200 crocodiles who have resorted to cannibalism, eating each other's limbs and body parts due to lack of food.

We visited this farm back in the late 90s. Even back then we saw crocs that were disfigured from injuries and missing limbs and it was clear to us they were fighting with each other and biting each other. I did not know they were cannibals due to lack of food, just assumed it is how they interact with each other.

So after the farm closed down due to a change in the law making these crocodiles a protected species, they kind of just got abandoned and became a menace to society with the area not being maintained. Honestly it seems irresponsible for the government to change the law forcing this farm to shut down with no plan of what to do with the existing crocs. But regardless of that, that is what happened and the crocs have been running wild on each other ever since.

Israel recently culled over 200 crocodiles from that area.

I think this was a missed opportunity.

Israel could have cleaned them up and gifted them to President Donald Trump to add to his Alligator Alcatraz compound. What a waste.

UN expertise

The United Nations has issued a report showing that most of their trucks of humanitarian aid have been ransacked and looted by Hamas and others.

From the article, this seems like the key part to me:

The United Nations Office for Project Services has published data showing that since the resumption of humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza on May 19 and up until August 5, a total of 2,604 aid trucks were collected by the UN after entering the Strip. Of those, 2,309 did not reach their intended destinations inside the enclave.

According to the organization, this was due to the trucks being “intercepted either peacefully by hungry people or forcefully by armed actors during transit in Gaza.” This accounts for 88% of all trucks.

In recent months, the percentages were even higher. According to UNOPS, in June, 1,155 trucks were collected by the UN and its partner organizations, and 1,048 of them — 90.7% — were intercepted before reaching their destinations. In July, the figure rose to 94%, with 1,161 trucks collected and 1,093 intercepted.

88% of trucks since May, with over 90% being looted in June and 94% in July!

On the one hand you gotta give the UN credit for not burying this and actually publishing a report on their own work that shows how badly they have failed.

I find it amazing that they can run around going on media all over the world talking about how Israel should just let them do what they do and what they are professional and experts at in giving out humanitarian aid, while up to94% of their trucks are being looted by terrorists.

it really sounds like they are such professionals, like they do such an amazing job, are great at what they do. They just need to be left along by Israel to do what they do better than anyone else!

Who in the United Nations ever has to pay for the price for their failures? Anyone?

Raise a glass and say Lechaim

Iran is reportedly experiencing a severe water shortage due to drought conditions (ie no rain) and soaring temperatures (temperatures have reached as high as 122F in some parts of the country this summer). The capital city Tehran is also running out of water. They are worried they are soon going to hit what they call "Day Zero" where they have no water left. They have been declaring national holidays as a way of keeping people from going to work so they can stay at home out of the heat and thereby also reduce the need for energy and water.

If only they had decent relations with a nearby country that has developed technology to minimize water waste in agriculture, to produce water out of the air, to desalinate water, and all sorts of other potential solutions... they could do a lot of to minimize the problems and solve some of their shortages...

But no.... instead of living like normal decent people looking to have good decent relations with other people and have cooperation on similar problems and working together to find solutions, they prefer instead to blame Israel for their water shortages.

And mind you, they are not blaming Israel because Israel destroyed their dams in the recent war - they didn't. They aren't blaming Israel for destroying their oil fields, because Israel didn't.  They are not blaming Israel for destroying their pumping systems and aquifers and whatnot - Israel didn't.

They are blaming Israel for manipulating the weather patterns to steal Iranian clouds so it would not rain in Iran.

I am checking the minutes of our latest Elders of Zion meeting to see if we used our space lasers or who was put in charge of controlling the weather over Iran recently. Maybe they deserve a raise.

And if it was us, that's pretty impressive. Maybe another reason you dont want to be our enemy. It can't be impossible, considering what the Mossad has accomplished over the past couple of years...

I guess you are on your own buddy. Raise a glass and say Lechaim!

Backsies or No Backsies

A week or so ago French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would officially recognize a Palestinian State.

In the days since I have heard a lot of talk about this announcement (and about the announcements of other countries in the wake of France's announcement)... those who praised it did not explain how it would work and how it is not a price to Hamas for its terror and refusal to further ceasefire deals, and those who oppose it have asked some good questions and made some good points, but there are a couple aspects of this I simply have not heard discussed and I continue to wonder about.

Specifically in the paragraph where President Macron details:
We need an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and massive humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza. We must also ensure the demilitarization of Hamas, secure and rebuild Gaza. And finally, we must build the State of Palestine, guarantee its viability, and ensure that by accepting its demilitarization and fully recognizing Israel, it contributes to the security of all in the region.
So, how are you going to ensure the demilitarization of Hamas? They have not agreed to it until now, so you saying they should demilitarize will be enough for them to agree? And what happens if you announce the State of Palestine and then they do not demilitarize - is there a "no backsies" rule or do you take back your recognition?

What would the borders of this State of Palestine be? Obviously it wont be agreed upon borders, so what will the official borders be?

Who will be the authority of this Palestinian State? The Palestinian Authority led by Mahmoud Abbas? Hamas? Other? Will any of them recognize Israel as the Jewish homeland? And what if they dont?

This seems like a less than half baked idea with no actual plan. Not only does it incentivize further terror, it has some nice ideas with no consequences for lack of follow through.
