With the rockets advanced well past the southern areas of Israel, many of us are in a bind. We never really paid attention to the instructions as to what should be done when the siren goes off, as it was not relevant to us. Suddenly, sirens are going off near us (not in Bet Shemesh yet, thank God, but Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Maale Adumim, Beitar, Ramat Gan, etc) and we dont know what to do!

Rebbetzin Tap made this video to tell us, and our kids, the basics of what to do. And it can be used as a great intro to starting a conversation with your kids about the rockets and sirens...




it seems like these kids already know what to do... look at their playground games.. how sad is that?

Sirens blared in Jerusalem, Bet Shemesh and Beitar areas just now. Supposedly it is due to a technical glitch (aka false alarm)... Maybe they were testing the system? I hope that was it.

Those of you who heard it live - imagine the people in Sderot, Ashkelon, Ashdod and all the surrounding areas hearing that 20-40 times per day.... Think of what they have been going through the past 2 months, 2 years, 8 years...

What is especially disturbing is that many families have come from the south to stay in these areas. Many schools have taken in many kids from the south and integrated them, temporarily, into their classrooms. My daughters school has a lot of southerners. Today her school was having an "activity day", bringing a small amusement park of sorts for the girls to enjoy for the day. Sure enough, on their fun day, they get to hear sirens just like back home!

An air raid siren just went off in Jerusalem where we have been staying for shabbos. The news has no reports of a war having begun so I have no idea why the siren went off.... Must have been a false alarm.
