A Shtreimel and Gatchkes

I received a series of pictures of a Haredi/Hassidic couple on the beach during Chol Hamoed Pessach. Originally I only posted the last picture - of him wearing the shtreimel on the beach in gotchkes. Now I decided to post the rest of them, blurring all the faces to keep his privacy.

  1. Someone better tell them that the sun is bad for you. And clothing doesn't necessarily protect you. So he may as well. . .take off the hat?

I did not snap the picture. It was sent to me by email.

  4. strangely enough, the shtreimel picture was cute, but the others of him and his wife in the water ere more itrusive and invasive. I was uncomfortable with those as they really had nothing to do with your post. a guy and his wife enjoying some private time is not what you should be posting. The shtrimel/gotchka pic was different and interesting though.

  5. shaya- initially I was also uncomfortable, so i did not post them. Then I decided to post them, after making the faces not visible, because they do say something. This guy is, very uncharacteristically, going mixed swimming in a beach. Someone is taking the pictures (and emailed them out) and in one of the pix you see other people at the edges. So, those pictures also say something.

  9. I think the pictures show a sweet moment between a husband and wife, but whoever took them is really creepy... and even more creepy to be emailing them out to other people. Are charedim like animals in a zoo to be gawked at? How would that person like being photographed without their knowledge swimming with their spouse in a less than dignified outfit? Ick!

  10. A- I highly doubt that Rabbi Goldwasser would be commenting on blogs. I know him personally- highly unlikely. And anyway, it says "Goldwasser story."

B- I agree with FrumHouse. While it may be unusual to see Chassidish people swimming at a beach, I don't think it's respectful to display pictures of them when they're just living their life. Would you want someone to post pictures of you on a beach?
