Vigilante Threats In Bet Shemesh
This sign was spotted in the Kirya Haredis of Bet Shemesh, with the text written ion both Hebrew and Arabic. It relates to the rash of break-ins and burglaries that has been happening at increasing rates recently.
The sign is a warning to the crook - it says that a thief that is caught, they will break his hands and feet. It is prohibited to enter a residential building.
I don't know if it is just a bluff of threat to scare people off, similar to the "Beware of dog" signs in yards that have no dog, or if it is real and there are people who actually intend to catch the crooks and break their hands and feet.
I dont know, but I like it.

well the police haven't been doing much to stop Shabbos robberies.
ReplyDeleteexcept when an outside force came in to catch the crew that was also stabbing hikers in the hills.
What happened to a scathing condemnation for those who break the "rule of law"???
ReplyDeleteThis you like? Can you explain why this isn't hypocritical?
this is funny. that is what I liked about it. not the actual threat. plus I think it is a bluff.
ReplyDeleteOn that note, I ask you why you condemn the chilul shabbos protests in the Karta lot, or the protests against digging up graves that get violent (also violence is most likely started by the police)? Why there are they worthy of condemnation but when people are protesting the political process and the horrible evacuation of land then the protests and violence are ok?
Rafi; I have consistently stated on my blog over the years that rock throwing and violence is abhorrent and should be condemned, no matter who are throwing rocks.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if you do insist on bring ing up the point:
My post on Chilul Shabbat riots was rather balanced, and placed blame where it needed to be.
The Ashkelon "grave" riots are baseless idiocy, as the graves aren't even those of Jews, but rather pagans.
