Rav Shteinman on "no entry to iphone owners" signs
The signs stating "no entry to owners of iPhones" have become pretty trendy.. in super-haredi areas one can see them hanging from plenty of windows and buildings. They even hang them from the windows of the houses of rabbonim just to take a picture and display the sign hanging from this or that rav's house.
The best response to this silly iPhone issue is the one currently being related in the name of Rav Shteinman. The story is being told that an avreich in Bnei Braq went to ask Rav Shteinman if he should hang such a sign outside his house, after his kids brought it home from school.
Rav Shteinman's response, supposedly, was that Avraham Avinu brought idol worshipers into his home and only asked that they wash the traces of idol worship so it wouldn't be in his house, but he did not have a sign saying no entry to owners of avoda zara.

Funny how they're all over Givath Shaul, but I didn't see a single one in Har Nof a month ago.
ReplyDeleteI guess that means GS is frumer than Har Nof, as I have been saying for years.
