Proposed law: life sentence for kidnappings
MK Motti Yogev (Habayit Hayehudi) submitted a law proposal this morning. Yogev's law, should it be passed, will change the punishment of a nationalistic kidnapper from 20 years in prison to a sentence of life in prison.
Yogev explains the purpose of the law is to strengthen our level of deterrence, in light of the kidnapping of the 3 boys along with another 30 incidents that were prevent by the security services.
Yogev said we must stop the cycle of blood - if they kidnap our kids, we will put back in jail all those released in the Shalit exchange, and we make the punishment stricter. The only thing that will stop the terror is the power of deterrence of the IDF and security forces.
In addition to Yogev, MK Zeev Elkin (Likud Beyteynu) and MKs Nissim Slomianski, Yoni Chetboun and Zevulun Kalfa (Habayit Hayehudi) signed onto the bill.
