MK Betzalel Smotritch (Habayit Hayehudi) has proposed a law that will require judges, police and army offices, and senior municipal administrators will all be required to submit a declaration fo wealth. They will have to submit such reports upon taking office, upon leaving office, and once every 6 years while they are in office.

The idea behind this, obviously, is to increase transparency so the public knows that these officials are not becoming rich by abusing the system or acting inappropriately while in office. Actually, the public won't actually know, but the information will be available to authorities should something be suspicious about the official's behavior and lifestyle. This will be an important tool in fighting corruption.
