Really? A synagogue invited Reverend Al Sharpton to be the guest speaker at Rosh Hashana services?

  1. Using the Wikipedia spelling of his name:

אל שרפטון has the same letters as שׁוֹפָרָא נטל

which means "he took the Shofar" (using the word used in the Targum on Shemot 19:19).

Alternatively, one can vowelize it as שׁוּפְרָא נטל, which means "he took beauty". Obviously, it cannot mean that he took it for himself, but rather, he took it away from the rest of the world with his presence.

  3. My goodness, he's a stick. But it's like his head stayed the same size.
