Quote of the Day

Morally we have no responsibility, no obligation and no need to give assistance to an enemy country. Chazal said that one who has mercy on the cruel will end up being cruel to the merciful. Whoever thinks that morally we need to extend assistance to a state that is, at the end of the day, an enemy state..we have no moral responsibility to do this. Anyone who talks in the name of moral values and wants to help, in my eyes this is crooked and hypocritical morals.

  -- Mk Betzalel Smotrich (Yamina)

What do you think? should humanitarian aid in a time of crisis not be extended to an enemy country like Lebanon, unless it is deemed to be a state interest as the aid might turn them into a friend or lessen their hatred for us?

  1. Did we drop First Aid packs together with the bombs on Hamburg and Berlin?

  2. Because of leftist and liberal Jews, we are in the tzarot that exist today. Those who are of that mindset always have mercy on their enemies, but look aside when it comes to caring, loving, protecting and helping their own! This is and was our greatest sin - 'sinat chinam'! The sinah belongs for the soneh! All we need to do is turn to Torah and remember that is our ONLY Guidebook!

  3. Smotrich might be right, but it's not the smartest thing to say out loud. Also, the goodwill this could generate in Lebanon, and wrong-footing it does to Hezbollah, could make it worthwhile - after all, that was part of the point of Operation Good Neighbor on the Syrian border.
