MKs Haneen Zoabi and Jamal Zahlaka, both on the United Arab List representing Balad, have announced today that they will not be running for re-election and have finished their time in the Knesset.

After all the efforts to get rid of them, they are finally leaving on their own. Hopefully the Arab citizens won't replace them with two more terrorist supporters. Goodbye and good riddance.

responding to a question about her opposition to the possible opening of a new medical school in the University of Ariel and if her opposition would be the same even if the discussion were for a school in Tel Aviv.

If anybody thinks the issue between the Israelis and Palestinians is only regarding Judea and Samaria (aka the West Bank), think again....

According to Channel 2 News, the Arab party for Knesset and member party of the United Arab List, Balad, has held its primaries and announced the results for the next elections, whenever they might be.

The results indicate that they have had enough of Hanin Zoabi and her antics that make them look bad. Zoabi has been pushed down to what is considered an unrealistic spot on the party list. Zoabi is now number 5 on the list, while the party currently holds 3 seats total.

The most noteworthy part of this news report, in my mind, is that Balad, the most extreme of the Arab parties, is more democratic in its functioning than most of the Jewish parties in the Knesset. Balad holds primaries to decide its party list while most other parties in the Knesset do not.

Israel's agreement to transfer 21 million shekels to the Turks constitutes a clear admission of guilt. Even if Israel does not acknowledge it, it is a confession to the murder of nine people, wounding of dozens, kidnapping and piracy in international waters and false persecution. 
There should be more flotillas like the Marmara in order to remove the criminal siege over Gaza

I agree with the first part of what she said. As far as the second, it is the natural result of capitulating to terror/blackmail - when it succeeds it foments more of the same. If this deal goes through and it is what it is being made out to be, no matter how the PM "sells it" (i.e. tremendous economic ramifications) it will embolden Hamas and others, as they see that they are able to achieve their goals using terror.

I guess the positive to take out of this is that at least Zoabi does not deny the Holocaust, as do some of her peers...

Besides for this, there have been some other similar reports over the past few days of people getting into screaming matches with Zoabi when she appeared in various places, such as the supermarket and others....

Good for them. Let the people have their say. Maybe the Supreme Court did not let her get kicked out fo the Knesset despite her radical views, but that cannot stop the people from voing their opinion and lettign her know they won't accept her vulgar behavior.

I did not ask for a security detail and I'm ready to give it up willingly, but I also understand that security was based on information that the police had. I would prefer that the police investigate seriously the threats and catch the perpetrators, but apparently it does not work like that and the police would rather not explore but just give me security.
The security detail reveals the nature of society in which we live - insensitive, intolerant and critical. Israeli society does not like to look at itself in the mirror.

1. the first point quoted above is actually a very astute observation on Zoabi's point. One can find other examples of this in the police work. One that immediately comes to mind is how the police deal with Har Habayit. Instead of investigating threats of violence and dealing with people who get violent, they ban Jews from Har Habayit and stop prayer, because the Arabs might get violent.

2. I find it ironic that Zoabi calls society "insensitive" for rejecting her statement about terrorists not being terrorists. Does she not realize that she herself is being insensitive saying such a thing just days after a kidnapping/abduction that has riled up the nation? Even if she believes it, maybe the time to say it is not now (I heard her respond precisely to this point on the radio saying now is the only time - but she cannot complain about insensitivity and accuse others of it. Her insensitivity is far greater).

the Knesset is generally the best show in town.. here, in a Knesset committee, the committee led by MK Aliza Lavie for advancement of the status of women, Lavie gets into a screaming match with MK Hanin Zoabi about her supporting the terrorists...

I am not even sure what to say.

Is she a manifestation of a tremendously vibrant and broad democracy or is she a manifestation of us being so open-minded our brains have fallen out?

Some have called Zoabi a traitor. She might not be worthy of sitting in the Knesset... she might be guilty of incitement.. maybe there are some other things wrong with her and what she said... but I am not sure the word traitor applies. Traitor is more like - did she sell State secrets or not.. I am not sure that making a comment about the frustration of the Palestinians and not being terrorists qualifies for status of treason and traitorhood...

(by the way, I heard her on the radio today - they asked her if she is related to the young Mohammed Zoabi who's life has been threatened. She said she does not know, she comes form a very large family and does not know them all - in case you were curious..)

the news anchor practically does not let Hotovely talk, constantly interrupting her when she tries to make a point. And Zoabi talks about other issues when confronted with participating in terror groups and attacks on Israel..

MK Zoabi in Violent Rage at PM Netanyahu's Speech

When Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke in Knesset yesterday, he, among other things, criticized MK Hanan Zoabi for her participation in the flotilla, saying she participated in a provocation against Israel and an attempt to block an Israeli naval blockade. Netanyahu said she should be thankful she is a Member of Knesset in Israel and not in Syria.

Zoabi flipped out and went into a rage. She was being removed from the Knesset after ignoring calls to order. She even lashed out at the security guards who were removing her.
