Just yesterday a leading man of the arts in Israel, a winner of the Israel Prize in 2009 for his work in the theater and cinematography, named Judd Ne'eman, made a bold statement.

Ne'eman said, and you can hear the audio clip of the interview on Walla, "What we need here is a war between the settlers and the leftists.... the issue should be determined by war, there should be a civil war between right and left, and then we will see who will win. If we take example from Spain, the fascist right won, and Franco ruled Spain a certain number of years and turned it into a retarded country. That is what we need here - a war between the settlers and the Left, and the Settlers will obviously win as they have the majority of the Israeli public and government. Then there will be a fascist country, and everything will be fine."

When given the opportunity to retract his statement, Ne'eman held strong and refused to retract. Neeman said, "I know a civil war is the way to solve the problems we have before us. It seems there is no other way. We tried everything else, and nothing has worked... I am in favor of the violation of the freedom of expression of all the fascists and also of the neo-Nazis. Democracy needs to protect itself from those that conspire against it. Today in Israel it is not an embarrassment to be a fascist."

I am curious if we will see the police pick up Mr. Ne'eman and detain him for questioning in the upcoming investigation that they are definitely going to be opening based on what he has said in public as an influential person.
