PSA: Preparing For Receiving Refugees From the South

Unfortunately war has broken out and everyone wants to do what they can to help - "Mi k'Amcha Yisrael".

The Home Guard has given instructions to the Beit Shemesh Iriyah to not officially organize hosting/absorption of "refugees" from the South since BS is almost in the firing range and we need to keep all the available
resources we have in our town for our residents including empty buildings, centers, professional services, volunteers etc.

Ezrat Achim has set up a nationwide system that will arrange hosting in towns all over Israel including in BS/RBS for the families who wish to come here (they say that there aren't many who want to be in BS/RBS).  Anyone who would like to host or be hosted should call Ezrat Achim at 999-0000.

The Iriya is relying on Lema'an Achai (as well as other non-profit organizations) to recruit volunteers.   We don't need you right now but we're busy preparing lists of volunteers who will be available and prepared when needed (it could be tomorrow!).  We're asking for teenagers and adults, professionals and non-professionals alike to come offer your services. We'll need general volunteers as extra hands and specifically teachers, gananot, sychologists and other therapists especially for trauma, doctors, first responders, organizational skills, handymen, entertainment for kids including clowns, magicians, juggling, puppet shows, musicians etc etc etc.

Please call:
Susan at Lema'an Achai - (02) 547-1802 or susan@lemaanachai.org
Eytan Dzikowski - 054-691-1623 or eytan@nerartgallery.com

  1. My New Hashkafah of Shidduchim :-)

My new hashkafah of shidduchim is thanking and praising HASHEM always :-)

Even when my dating experiences are far from pleasant, I realize that HASHEM is guiding my life with His infinite wisdom and abundant love, and exact precision that only He is capable of :-)

HASHEM always knows what is truly good for me, even when I do not :-)

Often what I need most is atonement and humility, so G_d gives me those precious things through unpleasant dating experiences :-)

I now realize that I must always thank HASHEM for ALL of my dating experiences, because even the worst dates are for my eternal benefit, because they provide me with precious atonement and humility :-)

Tractate Avot teaches that the reward for a good deed is proportionate to its difficulty; by giving me difficult dating experiences, HASHEM is providing me with greater reward for Olam HaBa, in addition to precious atonement and humility :-)

G_d loves me even more than I love myself, and He would never give me an unpleasant dating experience unless it was for my eternal benefit in both Olam HaZeh and Olam HaBa :-)

    THANK YOU HASHEM!!!!

Thank you for all my dating experiences, whether pleasant or unpleasant or mediocre :-)
You are always guiding me with endless wisdom and love; You always help me and give me everything I need :-)

    I regret all the times I complained;
instead of complaining, I should have been busy thanking You.
    THANK YOU HASHEM!!!!

I see: now there is a crisis the frummeh askanim in BS are now actively wooing Lemaan Achai.

How bizarre; not too long ago we were reading here how Lemaan Achai functionaries were not being allowed to collect in the Beit Shemesh (Ramat or otherwise) synagogues. Moreover, any Lemaan Achai literature left in shuls was being removed and dumped, according to reports that appeared in this blog.

What a strange world we live in! Politics - especially Jewish religious politics - doth make strange bedfellows of us all, but sometimes pragmatism dictates that former enemies have to deal with each other - whether they like it or not.
