PSA: hats in Bet Shemesh subsidized by city
If you are a resident of Bet Shemesh and wish to buy a new hat, now might be your chance to do so and save some money in the process. According to signs posted, the City of Bet Shemesh is subsidizing hats purchased at Ferster to the tune of 100nis. Locations for getting the coupon are posted in the sign.
I do not know fi they only sell "black hats" for men or if they sell other kinds as well, but you are welcome to go check it out...
and good for Ferster for getting all the business promoted by the city.. I wonder what their competition thinks of that, or if there was a tender issued for this purpose...

What business does a municipality have spending public funds on this sort of subsidy?
ReplyDeleteAs for your question, when I was young Forster in Yerushalayim sold a variety of hats. I don't know what it is like now.

ReplyDeleteI think it’s ridiculous for government to support or subsidize private establishments. In plain English the ad says “Moshe Abutbul is happy announce that if you buy a hat at Ferster you will get a 100shk discount” When you read the ad it does create the perception that the Iryia is paying the subsidy, however after closer inspection it becomes quite obvious that it does not mention who or what is subsidizing the cost. Typically these discounts are provided by various community support groups, ie. tzedakahs, with private money being donated specially for these groups of people to support their private needs. In all honesty I really wonder if the Iryah ever gave permission to have their name in the ad, and maybe now after the fact, the city isn’t saying anything out of their kindness, so not to ruin the store.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that Ferster is desperate for a sales pitch, so they put Moshe Abutbul’s name on the sign but there is no indication as to who is paying for it. I think it’s a foolish gimmick, and I truly hope this store gets their just deserts for committing such shenanigans.
According to a spokesman of the Beit Shemesh Municipality, the subsidy has been paid for by Ferster and has not come out of municipal budgets.
