Never heard this original of the Country Yossi song before, but I think that all of Country Yossi's songs are parodies of other country songs.
CY should be upset, the Wikipedia entry for this song lists several parodies or take-offs, and doesn't even mention the "Oh my Yerushalayim" version, makes you realize how insignificant Jewish music really is (Unless someone wants to edit the Wikipedia entry) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paloma_Blanca
