Rally in support of Haredi soldiers
this cannot end well.. but the police usually don't give permits to provocative rallies like this, and they did for this one...
*Rally in support of Haredi soldiers.
**Thursday June 22 6:30pm Kikar Davidka in Jerusalem
**Followed by a march towards Meah Shearim with police approval and protection
**Please spread the word and come to show your support for these brave and courageous soldiers.

this is a really bad idea and will do untold harm. as a charedi who has come home in uniform many times (i live in bet shemesh) i know first hand that it is precisely these type of "in your face" activities that cause resentment of charedim that serve in the idf.
ReplyDeletethis is almost certainly being organised by people outside the community who enjoy provocations and the optics they provide, but don't have to pay the price in their own lives.
this will make life more difficult for charedi soldiers and greatly complicate recruitment for the various charedi units. we have enough issues, without provocateurs making things worse.
I am against the Haredi extremists and the silent Haredi majority who are not opposing those who harass soldiers but this seems to be another provocation, not unlike the ambushes the police did recently.
ReplyDeleteUndercover sting operations are a normal part of fighting organized crime. If fighting crime is provocative, so be it.
