Litzman says no chilul shabbos, pictures are recycled

From my perspective, the story with the minimarket law and the Litzman law and all the chilul shabbos that caused the recent crisis in the governing coalition was over. I figured that everything that could be said has been said, and it is time to move on to other things.

Sure enough, our government and representatives provides enough material to keep us entertained for as long as one might want. And this actually made me laugh when I first saw it.

Last night after Shabbos it became known that work has continued on the rail lines on Shabbos as it has along, even after MK Yaakov Litzman (UTJ) was reinstated in the Health Ministry - as Deputy Minister with Status of Minister - after having made a big production of resigning due to the chilul shabbos on the rail line works.

So, after Shabbos it gets announced that despite Litzman's return to the Health Ministry, the chilul shabbos has continued as if nothing has changed. This time it included drone footage of the work done on Shabbos.

Betzalel Kahn of Radio Kol Hai (you can also hear the interview at the link) asked Deputy Minister Litzman about the continued chilul shabbos. Funnily enough, Litzman denied it, claiming the whole thing is a lie just to make trouble for him and UTJ. Litzman claims the pictures going online every week documenting the chilul shabbos are all the same pictures being recycled week after week.

That denial made me laugh. Beyond that I have nothing to add.

  1. Is one allowed to fly a drone on Shabbos to show how others don't care enough about Shabbos?

I thought the whole points of the Litzman law was to allow him to run the Health Ministry while being allowed to avoid the Shabbos issue. That and reversing something that Yesh Atid did. Did I miss something?

    1. Nah, you got it. There's no principles here apart from money.
