There was a shocking report released this morning. Avigdor Lieberman, in his position of Minister of Defense, worked with Haredim to grant exemptions from IDF service to children of rabbonim and roshei yeshiva.

Somehow everyone is shocked at this and is pointing at Lieberman and this report as proof that he is a hypocrite.

Did Columbus just discover America? We all know very well that for years, for two decades, Lieberman worked very closely with the Haredi community and Haredi parties and helped them in many ways, on many issues, and that today he is opposed to some of those same things. We all know that Lieberman and Deri were closest of friends and political allies for decades.

Yet today we are shocked?

He is as much a hypocrite and liar as the rest of them. it is all political expediency. What is convenient today, is today's policy, no matter what the policy was years ago based on what was convenient then. This is how Israeli politics, and politicians, works.
