Ethiopians still having troubles at winery (video)
if you thought the situation with the Ethiopian Jews working at the winery was resolved..it seems to not be so
as a result of this, MK Yaakov Margi (Shas) has tweeted out a call to boycott the Eida, saying nowadays there are enough other Badatzes that we can survive just fine with them...
A Haredi MK calling for a boycott of the Eida is far different than a radical secular extremist, or someone who can be brushed away and branded as such, calling for a boycott of the Eida...

I have a couple of things I have been wondering about this particular 'scandal'
ReplyDeleteThere are hundreds of wineries in Israel. I am sure more than a handful are under the Eida. They would have to follow the same rules. Why are we not hearing about similar issues in other wineries under their hashgacha?
Barkan also has a Beit Yosef hashgacha. Is this a factor in why Shas has taken such a high level of interest in this story?
when the story first broke that comment was made and it seems that in general wineries (at least with the eida hechsher) do not have ethiopians working there. this situation was unique because they already had ethiopians working and then decided to bring the eida in. It might have happened before and passed quietly, but I have no way to know
