professional army
I'm wondering if the current situation helps or hurts the people who claim Israel should get rid of the draft and move to a professional army and I don't know how to answer that.
I think it hurts their cause. I think what happened over the past few days shows we needs large numbers of soldiers. Even with the best defense technology the soldiers cant be replaced.
Thoughts? Will we still have to hear Eichler and Feiglin talk about getting rid of the draft and moving to a professional army or has that now been put to rest?

The army itself wants a professional army. It's the cynical politicians that don't. It will be interpreted the way you're seeing it, when, in reality, better trained, professional soldiers is what's necessary.
ReplyDeleteinteresting. thanks
DeleteNo draft, you will miss out on a lot of talented people. The underclass is more likely to enlist and more likely to be less capable.
DeleteFrom where I sit, the current army seems inept. And that is being kind.
