Boxing as the solution to the Middle East problem
Maybe we can adopt a similar model to solve the Middle East problems... throw some Israelis and Arabs into a ring, let them duke it out, and get out all their aggressions and then come to live happily ever after together...Foreman is in a rabbinical studies program he expects to complete within two years. He doesn't see his faith being in conflict with his profession.
"People have stereotypes that if you've going to be a rabbi then it's got to be only peace: not necessarily," Foreman said. "The life is actually not peaceful. You have to really work hard every day. It's OK to fight and earn money and study to be a rabbi."
Hours after winning the title, the accomplishment of a life-long dream had not sunk in yet. It was a dream that began when his mother took him to a boxing gym after he was bullied at grade school -- a dream that helped him become a national champion in Israel while training alongside Arabs; a dream that brought him to Brooklyn at age 19 with the goal of becoming a world champion.
"I'm still like, wow," Foreman said, a cut over his left eye and bruise under his right serving a proof his title didn't come without sacrifice.
Foreman, 29, hopes his reign will have meaning beyond boxing.
"Sport transcends the differences between nations," he said. "When I came first to the Arab gyms, the first impressions were they really stared at me. They wanted a piece of me. But after a few sparring sessions and training they just forget and we become friends. Now I have a lot of Arab supporters. They Facebook me and say they've been praying for me. So it's good to hear."
I think Foreman is far more deserving of a Nobel Prize for this revelation than Obama who received it (for what, again?)

Shimon Peres, the Dreamer (video)
Is Shimon Peres just a dreamer, or can he really pull this off?

Is George Bush really a friend of Israel?
The author related an incident in which Bush told Condi he would support efforts to create a Palestinian state. Rice created a channel between Bush and Sharon via Sharon's adviser Dov Weisglass.
The reviewer mentioned a number of incidents; regarding Arafat's muqata and the Israeli siege, the war with Iraq, etc.
The one I found interesting was the one on how Rice was involved in the creation of the Disengagement.
Rice, according to the author, told Weisglass that the Road Map is not good enough. She told Weisglass to go home and come up with a new plan; something that will let the world say, "Look at what Israel has done , and not the Palestinians need to do something."
Weisglass got back to her with a plant o disengage from 3 to 5 settlements. .
Rice said that the US would definitely support such a move but that is not good enough. She said that if Israel wants to change the dynamics and create a new reality, it would have to be the whole Gaza, and nothing less.
Weisglass went back to Sharon and they worked it out and gave Gaza to the Palestinians.
That is how the disengagement came about, at least according to this book, The Confidante.
I knew the US pushed the whole thing. Bush himself might not have been involved much in the details, but he was by proxy of his Sec State.
I think this book is a must read, just to get the details of that story clear.

What he did not say
He expressed his concern that four situations in the Middle East are going to lead to a general war.
The four situations he mentioned are; Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and the infighting in Gaza.
Terje Larson is worried about war and did not blame Israel! He did not even include Israel in a list of problems!
