stemming the tide
Day of conscription, Moshe Weiner, in the first group of Haredim being drafted to the new Chashmonaim brigade, was accompanied by his friends from the Chabad yeshiva to the Induction Center (aka Bakum). All the friends were immediately thrown out of yeshiva.
Weiner said he decided to draft because he was wasting most of his time and only learning a little bit. good on him for taking it into his own hands, but these are the boys the yeshivas should be sending to the army. Do they think kicking out his friends is going to convince young men to not support their friends who choose to go to the army? Do they think they are stemming the tide? The boys did nothing wrong in supporting their friend.
And, just to josh around a bit, I guess now there are 8 more young men available to join the new brigade!

siyata dshmaya
Rav YitzchakYosef, former Chief Rabbi of Israel and currently head of the Shas council of Sages, said that the reason the government has been unable to pass a draft exemption law for Haredim is because Amir Ohana is serving as Speaker of the Knesset. The government has no "siyata dshmaya" because of that.
The government has done some good things, specifically within the context of the war against Hamas and Hezbollah and Iran. I am not sure how to define when it can be said the government is functioning with siyata dshmaya and when it isnt so I will trust Rabbi Yosef on this matter. I just don't understand why it would come out as an issue with the draft law (which he called the draft exemption law) rather than anything else. This government has not had much good fortune in anything other than in the war itself, had a horrible attack on its watch, has had unprecedented number of terror attacks, has overseen the highest number of road deaths in Israel's history, has failed to pass many laws, has been dysfunctional in many ways. Maybe it is Ohana's fault, I dont know.
Funny that he would point out specifically the draft law, which has not yet even come to vote. Maybe once it does it will be easy to pass - it certainly looks like the coalition likely has the numbers to pass it, considering they have fired and punished its main opponents and are threatening to fire others if they dont back down.

the conceptzia is at it again!
After this morning's terror attack in the Shomron Finance Minister Betzalel Smotritch (who actually lives very close to the location of the attack) said "the conception (aka the "conceptzia") is still here and it is costing us in valuable blood. The terror in Judea and Samaria, from Gaza and Iran, is the same terror - and me must defeat it. Whoever relies on the Palestinian Authority to safegaurd the citizens of Israel wakes up to a morning of more terrorists slaughtering Jews...". Smotritch then called on the Prime Minister to convene a meeting of the Cabinet to change the mode of thought to truly reign in terror...
To remind Betzalel Smotritch, he is a senior member, one of the most senior members, of this government. he isn't in the Opposition complaining about government policy. He is in the government and complaining about his own government's policy. To clarify, it is his government that has this "conceptzia". Even if other people do as well, that is not relevant because they aren't the people in power - right now it is him and his government calling the shots. Not only is it their conceptzia, they were the main actors over the years who formulated and grew this conceptzia even if others bought in to it.
Smotritch - stop talking so much blaming vague undefined people when it is the people in your own government who have created these policies, have left them in place even since the war began 15 months ago, and continue to operate within them
