Just how extreme?

Ever wonder how extreme the extremists of Bet Shemesh are compared to the extremists of other places?

According to this report, the Eida Charedis has been interested in appointing Rav Nosson Kupshitz, Rav of the Kirya Charedit of Bet Shemesh, to the position of Dayan on the Eida Beis Din.

What is holding up the appointment?

Rav Kupshitz is known for his level of extremism in support of tzniyus issues, mehadrin buses, and other issues. He is also known for having a streak of independence. The Eida is unsure of what to do about that - they are concerned he is too extreme and too independent. They are trying to get him to agree, supposedly, to a condition that he will not speak out on any of these issues without first consulting with the Gaavad of the Eida.

That is how extreme BS extremists are. Even too extreme for the Eida.

  1. As R Y Rosenberger is a Dayan already, I don't understand why extemism disqualifies one for that position.
That article though shows the true colors of the "Anglo-Chareidi" crowd who have enabled R Kofshitz to influence their institutions.

  2. If he really is behind some of the conflicts in RBS, I would be happy to trade him for future considerations.
