Temple Mount-Har Habayit Updates

And in today's Temple Mount news...
  • Moshe Feiglin had been planning a large aliyah l'har for today. Feiglin goes up every month regularly, and this was really the day he normally goes up - the 19th day of the Hebrew month. Feiglin had called on more people to join him, as he would be saying thanks for his success in the recent Likud primaries.

The police, after hearing of Feiglin's plan, decided that this would be a "provocation" and decided to shut Har Habayit to Jews for the day.

  • Ma'an news is reporting that the Israelis are planning on building a large information center on Har Habayit. According to the report, the structure will be 3700 square meters, and will have 5 floors. The building will supposedly include a museum, lecture halls, exhibition halls, library and archives and an information center.

The Al Aqsa Foundation claims the center will be built on Islamic and Arabic ruins.

  • Last week there were photographs of a trip of IDF soldiers on Har HaBayit (I think I linked to it from the Temple Mount Update website).

It turns out that the Al Aqsa Heritage Foundation website has those pictures and more. As part of their collection of pictures, they have an image of a fellow seemingly urinating against a wall. Not reading or speaking Arabic, I plugged the page into Google Translate. As usual, GT produced a horrible translation, but one could make out the protest against the foreign tourist who urinated on one of the walls. (source: INN)

Whether he urinated or not, I don't know. The image shows him standing there, but one cannot see if he actually was urinating or just posing. From his back it is not clear if he is Israeli or Arab or foreign. I would point out that after having been on Har Habayit dozens of times, there is no way this could have been an Israeli. Neither the police nor the Waqf officials allow Israelis to wander off alone, let alone to urinate on a wall. As soon as someone starts to separate from the group, the police run over and make sure everyone stays together. there is absolutely no such thing as someone wandering off on his own and urinating on a wall. That is besides for the fact that nobody (from those who ascend) would do such a disrespectful thing up on Har Habayit.. I don't know how police deal with foreign tourists on the Mount.
