I had a better idea. I'd like to be a mashgiach kashrut.

no, this was not praise for the wonderful job of mashgiach. it was criticism. Sarid explained that he'd like to have the job of mashgiach kashrut for the Rabbanut because you only go to work once a week for a bit.
Sarid then explained further, when the talk show host protested and said it is not true, as a mashgiach you go in, you get some food and drink, a little bit of cash to turn a blind eye,.. you say goodbye nicely and part as friends until the next visit...
