Proposed Law: raise minimum smoking age
MK Yehuda Glick (Likud) has proposed a law that would make it illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21. 20 MKs from a variety of parties have signed on to this bill, making it likely to pass.

It is a wonderful idea. The only problem with this is that it won't really help. The kids buying cigarettes at age 13 or 15, aren't going to care that the minimum age was just raised from 18 to 21. The 16 or 17 year olds also probably won't care.

I have an even better idea - why not raise the smoking age to 70? That way, by the time anyone has smoked long enough to die from it, they will be dead of old age anyway.
ReplyDeleteA brilliant idea? If we are so worried about 18 year olds harming their health, we should also make it illegal to enlist
ReplyDeleteIf it is illegal - because it's an assault - for one person to spit on another, why is it still legal for a person to emit harmful, toxic, poisonous cigarette smoke, which will reach the face of nearby bystanders or passers-by?
