protection from CoronaVirus

This is interesting. There might be different ways to ensure yourself some protection from CoronaVirus, even if other methods did not necessarily work..

For example, the Satmar Rebbe is promising that anyone who comes to shul and dances with the Torah as usual, he will take responsibility for that person and the person will not get hurt or sick. However if someone goes to shul and stands on the side but doesn't dance, without expressing his joy by dancing with the Torah, that person is not protected by this guarantee.

According to the Rebbe, the authorities ordered the shuls closed or open with a maximum of ten people, but on Shmini Atzeres, the Rebbe said, the government is ours.

The Rebbe said he won't make the same mistake the community made last time by closing the shuls and schools. This time we won't close and the schools won't be closed for even a single day.

I don't know if his promise is only for in his shul or any shul.

If that's not good enough for you, you can donate 277nis to Kupat Ha'Ir. 277is the gematriya of "Arava" (in Hebrew, obviously). Anyone who makes this donation will be sent an arava leaf from the aravos beaten by Rav Chaim Kanievsky on Hoshana Raba. They are claiming that carrying around this arava leaf will be a segula providing protection, as well as a sense of calmness, for the entire year.

Is the segula only with Rav Chaim's arava leaf or anybody's arava leaf? I don't know.

If you are looking for some other worldly protection from CoronaVirus, one of these two options might be for you.

  1. Interesting religion these people have.

As a friend points out, getting an object personally handled by someone who's tested positive for corona is probably not the best segula against catching corona. :-)

    1. They're aiming for a thousand donations. One leaf per donation from five aravot would equal...200 leaves per branch, which is impossible.

    2. He watches as others beat their arevot.
Just like he watches when others make a mi sheberach.
