Ben Gvir's trip

Even though I'm not a fan of Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, I'm somewhat embarrassed and ashamed on his behalf.

Ben Gvir made a big deal of going to the USA on state business for the first time and he has no official government meetings to attend. It seems his one big event was a fundraiser of some sort at Mar-a-lago. Besides for that he did a photo shoot at a gun shop and walks around New York looking for people to speak to (Chabad was willing) and to respond to protestors. Shuls are debating whether or not to host him, with at least one even inviting him and then canceling..Watching the reports of his travels, he looks like nothing more than a petty Kahane activist wandering aimlessly through NY riling up anti-Israel anti-Jewish protestors.

Surely he will declare it a successful trip. He even got to flash a V symbol of victory to protesters. I feel bad for him.

  1. Please don’t make it sound as though his visit was cancelled for political reasons.
The Rabbi’s Father passed away and the burial was in Israel.
The Rabbi was not expected to return until after Shabbat

I'm embarrassed for the American Jewish community. All the talk of "exploding levels of anti-Semitism" and harrassment of Jews and Jewish institutions across the country and along comes this guy and these same Jews nervously go running to the people that openly hate them and announce "We have nothing to do with him!"

  3. Really?!
He "walks around New York looking for people to speak to"?! That's a figment of your imagination.

    "wandering aimlessly through NY"

Stop making things up! That never happened.
These are all prearranged meetings. Walking in the street on the east to a meeting is now considered "wandering aimlessly"?!

I've been reading your blog for years, but recently you seem so bitter. Your analysis has very clearly taken a turn in recent times to the wayside.

Dunno if you went through a trauma or have been going through hard times but perhaps the time has come for you to evaluate if you've been thinking rationally.

    1. sorry, but I havent seen any pictures or descriptions of meeting of the Minister of Internal Security with the Secretary of Homeland Security of the USA, or the NY State Director of Homeland Security (or whatever he/she might be called) or any other important senior officials. Sorry, for this to be the itinerary of the first official trip of a senior minister in the Israeli government, it is kind of pathetic. Of course it might be possible his schedule is jam packed with meetings of senior officials and he just isnt publicizing it. if so, I would retract this, so let me know

    2. Secretary of Homeland Security, not Minister. Apologies.

    3. Considering that the point of the trip seems to have been to speak to Jews, not officials, Anonymous has a point.

  4. Your dislike towards Ben Gvir is quite evident. Let us be respectful to an Israeli official and if you disagree with his actions, attitudes and ideas...then so be it.
