Arnon Segal (brother of Amit) posed on FB an interesting anecdote from the shiva. He says he was told this story firsthand from Simcha himself.

Simcha said his great grandfather regularly wrote letters to the Presidents of the USA trying to encourage them to expropriate Temple Mount from the Muslims and to build the Beit Hamikdash.

PM Netanyahu called Rothman to pay a shiva call over the phone. On the call Simcha Rothman told PM Netanyahu about this and suggested Netanyahu ask Trump for this. Ntetanyahu responded refusing the request saying Trump might actually do it!
