Yes, Yahya Sinwar who was known as the Butcher of Khan Younis had a brother (now deceased) named Mohammed Sinwar who was considered even mroe hard line and more brutal than Yahya... and he worked for Btselem as a field researcher....

Let Sinwar decompose
Give back Sinwar's body so they can give him a proper burial?
I hope not. Not until the hostages are returned.
Israel has been big on humanitarian gestures and giving back many dead bodies, in exchange for nothing but goodwill that is worthless.
Sinwar's body should either be treated like Bin Ladens and disposed of, or it should be held to be returned as a high value chip for an exchange.

Israeli news is reporting that Yihya Sinwar has expressed interest in renewing negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release. As part of his request he has requested immunity from being killed by Israel. Supposedly Qatar is upset at Sinwar and Hamas for the situation that has dragged on. Supposedly Qatar has threatened Sinwar with freezing the Hamas accounts and that they will not be part of rebuilding Gaza. Qatar has told Sinwar, supposedly, that he needs to work to resolve this and not focus on his own fate.
I think if it gets that far, Israel should grant Sinwar temporary immunity for the duration of serious negotiations. If Israel feels he is leading them on for his own purposes and is not making serious offers and efforts, he loses his immunity. If immunity is needed to get him to the table, give it to him, but not open ended. If we think he is playing us, immuity is canceled. if a deal doesn't work out, immunity is canceled.

Deal? No Deal
that was short-lived. Now reports are saying that Hamas has officially responded saying they will not be sending a negotiating team for further talks..
These guys just make stuff up./ one minute Sinwar is desperate for a deal, the next minute he is playing hardball again.
WE DON"T KNOW WHAT HAMAS WANTS OR PLANS!
just keep beating them into submission and at some point maybe they will make a deal. What other choice is there?

The Deal
The news is reporting the Egyptians and Qatari mediators have told Israel that Yahya Sinwar is ready and willing to make a deal. Sinwar, supposedly, wants to end this war.
I dont know that we can believe anything anybody says about what Sinwar wants, considering he is supposedly not in [regular] communication with anybody......but let's say these reports are right, and hopefully they are.
Here is my suggestion for what would be an acceptable deal with the devil.
if Sinwar is asking for a ceasefire deal, let's make it a fair one. Stop the war, return the hostages. That's it. if Sinwar needs to save face and has to "get" something beyond the end of the war, give 1 Palestinian prisoner per Israeli hostage. Even 2 per hostage is ok is ok. Dead hostages only get dead prisoners in exchange, and I would prefer we deduct it off the count of dead terrorists already returned, but I understand this might not be possible and should not be a deal stopper.

the big boss
The news reported that in light of Ismail Haniyeh being removed from Hamas leadership, removed by an Israeli explosion, Hamas has decided to appoint Yihye Sinwar, yes that Yihye Sinwar, to the vacant position as head of Hamas.
I dont understand how it can work for them (though that is even better for us). If Sinwar is stuck in a tunnel hiding with no communications and only a couple people who know where he is and are in touch with him, how can he effectively run an organization?
It seems to me that this is a bad decision by Hamas, but perhaps they dont have anyone else capable enough at this point.
That being said, with Sinwar as head of Hamas, maybe he will have to come out of his hole to run the organization, to cozy up with the Iranians and others, to fill the greater responsibilities now upon him... We'll see what happens but this could present opportunities.
They'll probably even start calling him a moderate soon enough. He is a reasonable person, the lead negotiator, etc. They way they spoke about Haniyeh and the President of Iran that died recently in a helicopter crash.
On the other hand, does he even know about this decision, if he is hiding in a tunnel somewhere with no way to communicate efficiently? Maybe he has not yet even heard the news and does not yet know he is in charge...

Netanyahu = Sinwar?
I dont get how this works.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted ceasefire proposals, only for them to be rejected by Hamas. Israel has changed its policy to allow humanitarian aid in to Gaza, and has regularly increased the amounts of aid being let in. Israel has warned Palestinians of upcoming attacks, thus waiving the element of surprise and increasing risk to Israeli soldiers. Israel has evacuated hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from the danger zones and has created humanitarian corridors for safe passage.
Yet somehow PM Netanyahu is equated with arch-terrorist Yehiya Sinwar who took civilians as hostages and had his people specifically target civilians in brutal rapes and murders of the most gruesome kind. Hamas operatives taken prisoner are treated humanely - they are fed and given medical treatment along with a bed to sleep on, the ability to shower and take care of their personal needs, while the Israelis held hostage by Hamas are getting none of that.
And Netanyahu is on equal footing with Sinwar??? How is this possible?

Sinwar hiding in plain site
I am satisfied that I did not post the picture of Yihye Sinwar allegedly having come out of the tunnels several times recently to be in the areas where there had been fighting and to talk to people and meet with commanders.
it turns out those pictures were old, from 2017. While the reports might be true, the accompanying pictures were misused.
I thought something was wring with it because I assumed that if true that we really know where he is, out int he open and have taken pictures of him, Israel would already have taken him out.
Hiding in plain site isnt so easy right now, but it might be possible for a limited amount of time

Is Sinwar desperate or delusional?
I guess today we saw the first sign of life from Yahya Sinwar, leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
From deep in the hole in which the scaredy cat is hiding from the IDF, the big brave Yahya Sinwar sent a message the Hamas leadership abroad. Sinwar claims in his message to be leading Hamas to crushing the IDF as they have already killed over 1500 IDF soldiers with another 3500+ seriously wounded.
Sinwar also reported to Hamas leadership that they had destroyed over 750 Israeli military vehicles.
We are still looking for Sinwr, so the one thing he is definitely good at, other than at lying, is hiding like a coward while he keeps his people in the line of fire. He is not the type of leader that leads from the front. Sinwar leads from the back, and from 50 meters under the ground.
Obviously we know this is not true. Today we have the Internet and instant broadcast of images and activity from pretty much anywhere in the world, including from Gaza. We can see how Gaza has been destroyed. We know how many IDF soldiers have been killed. We can see how northern Gaza is now a pile of rubble. At this point they can hardly even shoot more than the occasional salvo of rockets at Israel.
The days of the 1960s and 1970s where they could start a war with Israel and broadcast victory announcement about how they are decimating the Israelis and be believed are well behind us. That world does not exist any longer. Sinwar can say what he wants but his people know that Hamas is not destroying the Israelis. They had one day of success on October 7, but once Israel mobilized, it has been all downhill for Sinwar and Gaza since.
I wonder if Sinwar thinks he can fool the entire world with such messages, or if he thinks he can maybe at least fool the rest of Hamas leadership. Or maybe he is just fooling himself. Whatever it is, I doubt he is actually fooling anyone. He even sounds somewhat desperate. Or delusional.

It's a small, insane, world after all
The story of Yahya Sinwar was already insane enough, but now it got more insane.
Yahya Sinwar is the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Sinwar was arrested and convicted back in 1989 to four life sentences for abducting and killing two Israeli soldiers in addition to four Palestinians (that he suspected of collaborating with the Israelis). in 2011 Sinwar was released back to Gaza as part of the hostage exchange deal for Gilad Shalit, along with 1026 other Palestinian terrorists held in Israeli prisons.
Back in 2004 a medical checkup in prison discovered that Sinwar had a brain tumor. Dr Yuval Bitton performed a complicated surgery and saved Sinwar's life. As mentioned, Sinwar went on to take over leadership of Hamas in Gaza in 2017 and his arch-terror brutal ways continued.
All that was known.
The newest piece of information is posted by The Mirror. There are two parts to it. One is the crazy part. The other is crazy but more of a curiosity.
The doctor who performed the life saving surgery on Yahye Sinwar was Dr Yuval Bitton. Dr Bitton announced that his nephew Tamir Adar, and Tamir's grandmother, Yaffa Adar, are, you might have guessed it by now hostages being held in Gaza after being abducted from Nir Oz on October 7th in the Hamas raid and massacre on Southern Israel. Yaffa Adar was released yesterday as part of the hostage release deal ceasefire arrangement. other relatives were also abducted.
It is a crazy insane small world after all.
The second part of this is that Betty Lahat, a warden in the prison in which Sinwar was serving his time way back when revealed that when Sinwar discovered he had a tumor he fell apart. He cried and begged they should save his life and that he shouldnt die. The way it sounds, Trump would describe him as having cried like a baby, acting like a dog, a stupid person, a weak person, a loser.
Dr bitton says he warned the security services to not let Sinwar out as he was a psycopath.
