Feiglin has proposed to all parties to the right of the Likud, being Zehut, Otzma Yehudit (Ben Gvir), Hatzionut Hadatit (Smotritch), and Ofer Vinter (who has not yet announced a new party or what party he will be running in but looks like he is making preparation to run in the elections) to come together in one large party. 

Feiglin mentioned joining together as a technical block, but for his goal, which I have not yet mentioned, I think it should be an actual merged one party, not a technical block.

So Feiglin wants the parties to all join together in one form or another (he suggests a technical block but I doubt that he is not open to other arrangements), and he says the positioning of candidates within can be determined by a very simple poll. 

If they were all to join forces into one party running in the elections, Feiglin thinks they can challenge the Likud and even surpass them as the largest party on the Right side of the political coin. This would allow them to actually be the ruling party and not just small sectoral parties, unseating PM Netanyahu and actually ruling the country with right wing ideals.

This is an intiative I can get behind, and is basically (not the specific details but the concept) something I have been reocmmending for the last few years - the Right parties should get together and push out Netanyahu and support someone else for Prime Minister. This tactical plan goes beyond what I envisioned, which is why they are in politics and not me, but the idea is one I can support.

I am not sure even together they have the numbers to succeed, but they should at least try!

Maybe they are right and this is the "Jewish way" and we need more of the Jewish way and less of the old democratic way, but I am not convinced.

Sometimes I hear claims like "there is nobody else - we should instead elect Yair Lapid? Netanyahu is much better than Lapid!"

While that may be debatable - under Netanyahu besides for all the terror attacks, 1400 Israelis were brutally massacred in one day, along with another 240 taken hostage, a war that is going for 10 months with no end in sight, and a PM regularly playing politics to keep his government in power. What exactly makes him better a better option than Lapid?

But ok, let's say, for argument's sake that he is.

Why is Lapid the other option? He isnt the next largest party, not even in any polls for the future. Why is the assumption that Lapid will be the next PM if Netanyahu is pushed out? And anyone else on the "Left" (including Benny Gantz, even though he isnt really Left) also doesnt really have the votes to become Prime Minister and push out Netanyahu, without forming a government with some right wing parties.

The Right Wing should not be protecting Netanyahu. The Right Wing should push Netanyahu out and support a different Right Winger for PM. I dont know who that should be - but I imagine it might be Nir Barkat, Yuli Edelstein, Itamar Ben Gvir, Naftali Bennett or Avigdor Lieberman or whoever the people on the Right choose, but the Right should be angriest at Netanyahu and pushing him out in favor of someone else on the Right, not protecting him.

The lawyer representing the government argued at one point that the Declaration of Independence should not be binding in obligating anyone today in anything, considering it was signed hastily by 32 people who were not elected by the people.

The government is really arguing that the Declaration of Independence is basically null and void? To me this seems worse than Herzl's consideration of Uganda as a [temporary] solution for getting the Jews out of danger.

The Declaration of Independence is a worthless document because it was hastily signed by 32 unelected people?

What else can be dismissed so easily?

the Balfour Declaration is worthless.

The Jewishness of the State can be dismissed

The democratic nature of the state can be dismissed.

the UN vote to support the establishment of the State of Israel can be dismissed.

The Status Quo can be dismissed (1 person signed a hastily constructed agreement with the Haredi reps of the day and it should be binding on us 70 years later?)

There are probably plenty others.

Satmar says thank you to the current government. As does Mahmoud Abbas and anyone else who decides from today that they can take Israel's right wing government's own words about the illegitimacy of the founding of the State (it was declared hastily by unelected people) to international bodies around the world to delegitimize the State of Israel.

So the full right government that made this a central issue not only wants to continue delaying it indefinitely, but now wants to cancel the order altogether...

Minister Smotritch, followed by Minister Ben Gvir, did not like that and is using his power to halt the State's filing on this matter to request the cancellation of the order. It seems Smotritch has, theoretically, the power to do so as all government communications on this matter are supposed to go through him, as per coalition agreements. 

We'll see what excuse they use this time to allow it to happen without making more than a superficial opposition to the matter. Until now every time their own government does something they dont like, something that until now they would always make a big ruckus about, they simply say we are doing other important things so this wont derail all that other good. Will that be a good enough justification this time? Or will they find a better excuse this time? Or will it play out differently this time as they hold their ground?

I dont know how Netanyahu gets out of the current crisis unscathed. I dont see a path. But he's maneuvered out of crazy situations before, so maybe he'll figure something out. That being said, at this point it looks like he may lose his government no matter what he chooses moving forward - if he freezes the judicial reform I dont see how Smotritch, Ben Gvir, Rothman and Levin (and some others) dont resign. If he continues to move ahead I dont see how others calling for the freezing of the reform dont resign. If he moves forward, the chaos continues to spread. It is a bad situation and I dont see how this government can last much longer the way things are going. They started off solid and homogenous but the cracks are too big now.
