Rav Chaim Kanievsky's Miracle Triplets
In the continued "hassidification" of Rav Chaim Kanievsky, he has performed yet another miracle. The miracles are coming from this litvishe rav fast and furious.
This one has Rav Kanievsky being the cause of how many babies a woman gave birth to.
Bechadrei reports that an avreich who did not have children despite many years of marriage went to Rav Kanievsky for a bracha. While he was waiting in line for his turn to get into Rav Chaim's room, Rabbanit Kanievsky noticed him, and that he seemed upset. . She asked him what he came for, to which he responded that he came for a bracha for children.
Rabbanit Kanievsky gave him a bracha that they would give birth to twins in the coming year. He answered amen, and took his turn to get a bracha from the rav as well.
The avreich told Rav Chaim about the meany years they did not have children and what they went through, and asked that Rav Chaim daven on their behalf. He also mentioned that the rebbetzin had just given them a bracha for twins.
Rav Chaim said "Why only twins? IYH, you should have triplets!"
This week the fellow came back to Rav Chaim Kanievsky reporting that his wife had just given birth to triplets!

No big deal. Multiple births are very common among women undergoing fertility treatments...
ReplyDelete"In the continued "hassidification" of Rav Chaim Kanievsky". Don't forget that Rav Chaim Kanievsky comes from a hassidishe background. His Grandfather was a Chernobyl Hassid.
ReplyDeleteThis falls under the heading:
ReplyDeleteAnything she can do, I can do better"
I think that there's a "Jean Dixon Effect" going on here. Rav Kanievsky gives a large number of brachot. Some of them are bound to come true, irrespective of whether or not he would have given a bracha in the first place. The ones which don't come to pass (or, for you true believers, haven't come to pass yet) don't get any press.
ReplyDeleteI think that Rafi (S) makes a good point. People who ask for a specific bracha are usually taking other measures to acheive the same goal. However, only the bracha seems to get any credit.
Risa,
ReplyDeleteI disagree. The Rebbitzen gave a bracha for two kids, while Rav Kanievsky only gave a bracha for one.

ReplyDeleteRafi (S) makes a good point. Usually, someone who goes for a bracha is taking other measures to get whatever it is he wants a bracha for. However, once he gets it, only the bracha gets any credit, never the other measures he took.
I thought the end would be, therefore, 2 plus 1 equals three. The rabbanit blessed him with 2 children, the rabbi with 1, and they ended up with triplets.
ReplyDeleteI love these stories!thanks rafi!
I went to Chaim Kanievsky and told him I was childless, too, and he didn't bless me. He said, "Go to Torah shiurim and God will give you sons." That was it.
ReplyDeleteand did it work?
