Gafni, other MK's and "the Gedolim" have all excused themselves from any polite discussion on this topic. The rest of society should respond to their rants by stating "Shhh, the adults are speaking. Wait your turn."
Interestingly, I heard Moshe Gafni on the radio this morning, in his capacity as chairman of the Knesset Finance Committee, and he discussed the topic - taxation of large corporations - in a reasonably adult and intelligent way. Which proves that he can speak rationally when he chooses. I guess the attitude about the draft is rational, according to their world view - which indicates just how futile discussion of this issue may be.
He even responded to a question about the propriety of taxing certain profits retroactively by saying something to the effect of "we're the state, we can do it if we want to." I found the irony close to overwhelming.
