According to Netanyahu, he should should resign

So it is official. The Attorney General has served Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with indictments for various charges in the 3 cases, 1000, 2000, and 4000.

To remind you, here is what Benjamin Netanyahu himself said back in the day when Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was being indicted.

That is, Netanyahu said a Prime Minister knee deep in investigations has no moral or public mandate to continue to rule and make important decisions for the State, for he might make decisions for his personal good rather than for the good of the State.

Sure, there is no law requiring the Prime Minister to resign at the serving of an indictment, but Netanyahu himself says a PM with such cases open against him has no moral right to continue serving. I wish him well and I hope he beats the charges and can prove himself innocent. Nobody wants to see the Prime Minister of their own country be found guilty of such serious charges. He should take the time off to defend himself - as he himself demanded of others.

Then again, I am not surprised that he has no intention to resign because of the indictment despite his demand that another PM in a similar situation do so. As Prime Minister Netanyahu has not followed the guidelines he himself laid out in his various books that he wrote regarding how to put an end to terror and how to make peace... In Netanyahu's book (and it is probably the same with most, if not all, politicians) what is good for the gander is not necessarily good for the goose...

  1. Trouble is when I read the so-called indictments, I laugh. Such nonsense. You would think he was guilty of heinous crimes, c'v. It's just that they want him out and want the leftists in, but maybe he'll learn a lesson after he wins and serve his people according to real Jewish laws. Thus, blessings ensue and will bring in the Geulah.

    1. Real Jewish laws... like Deri and his revolving jail-cell door? Netanyahu may think bigger, but he's no more or less moral in substance than the Charedi politicians.

    2. I happen to think, and have written in the past, that a sitting prime minister should not have to deal with investigations and charges like this. Only very serious charges should be investigated and dealt with during the term of a PM. The PM has a difficult job and he should not have to deal with investigations and charges of relatively minor issues.
That being said, that is not the law and until the law is changed, guilt is guilt. fraud and bribery and breach of trust are not as minor as jaywalking, so I see nothing wrong with him having to deal with his alleged crimes.

  2. The first rule of being a politician is that the rules don't apply to politicians. When you have politicians making the rules, you run into obvious conflicts of interest.

  3. Whoever thought up these stupid laws must have dictatorial minds and feel if they're not pleased with the sitting pm for any reason, then they have these 'unjust' excuses to oust him. BTW, so-called laws like these are not fitting for a Jewish state, as it's filled with gossip and slander! A leader of a nation, unless he turns into a dictator, should receive at least some respect and 'never' indicted while he's still in office. Just plain old common and decent sense.

    1. Common sense? So Netanyahu should be free to break any laws he likes, as long as he's currently in office? And you don't see any problem with that? I'm guessing you're one of those "he isn't hurting me, so what's the big deal?" types. Luckily, there are lots of people in the world who aren't like you.

Unless corrected, I will assume your morals were learned in a Charedi Yeshivah.
